I just recently signed up for a scuba diving class. I had tried Scuba diving on one of those intro dives in Australia in 2006 and really enjoyed it. Somehow I kept putting off the certification classes or travel got in the way. Finally found a class that matches my time while here in the US.
My classes start Monday but I ended up buying all the stuff I needed yesterday for the class. Its amazing how quickly it adds up! I recall him also asking if i would be doing only warm weather or also cold weather diving. I of course not sure what I would do said, what do most people do. Well they get this, so if you do cold water, then you will need these booties too. Cha-ching, I could feel the register ticking up.
I just hope to find a better location to do a checkout dive, I cant imagine how cold the water is going to be in April when the local filled in quarry opens up to divers. I will have to look into doing the checkout dives somewhere a bit warmer and with more interesting things to see. Sunken school buses and such in a cold Pennsylvania quarry are not the main reason I signed up for Scuba diving or at least I hope not.
The guy at the shop mentioned as I was checking out how expensive of a hobby this is. Something I know all too well with my skiing, traveling, and photography addictions. I smiled as my credit card was swiped knowing full well that in the end its not going to matter its just going to be another expensive hobby I will be lusting after.
The world famous Atomium in Brussels Belgium. It was originally built for the 1958 World’s Fair. You can even go inside it but I opted to avoid the two-hour wait for the overpriced trip inside. I would characterize it as a must-miss sight but it was pretty neat from the outside in general.

Spent a lot of time in the subway system getting around Brussels. Stopped and noticed the sign reflecting in the window of the train. I kind of wonder if the man in front of me noticed it as well.

As I just returned from a recent trip to Scandinavia I think of the fun of old European travel where each country had its own currency. I traveled to 4 countries and returned with 4 distinct currencies in my wallet (5 total if one counts my US currency). It seems to me the more I travel, the more money i have sitting in a cup collecting dust waiting for the country to discontinue it. What does one do with all this money? Well I realized that the amount about 10 dollars US in each currency is far too low to be useful to actually convert back in to American Dollars. With the conversion charges its barely worth the trouble. Maybe they will make a good souvenir, instead of my usual shot glass collection from all the places I go. Although now with several countries on the same currency and more on the way even that is going away in some regards. However I think it is all part of maybe an elaborate plan. If ever I need to escape, I could run away to anywhere in the world with a bit of money in my pocket. I can just see it now, the notice goes out that I have escaped my life and fled and do to my extensive foreign currency I could be anywhere in the world. But then they would have a sigh of relief, with only $1o US in each currency I probably couldn’t get all too far.

So just to let people know that we are still alive and well! Things here are fabulous, a little tired, but relaxing quickly and i cant imagine that i haven’t even started work yet so my trip has really yet to begin.
So we awoke early from our hotel in Goshogawara, content that the main objective of our trip (seeing the house) was complete. We decided to take a stroll through the quiet town to find ourselves some breakfast. Continue reading Konichiwa from Hokkaido
The lovely “ferry” we had taken from Aomori to Hakodate. We were immediately surprised by the look of our ferry wondering if we were actually heading to our intended destination or not.
